Sword tattoo for a friend

A longtime friend of mine asked me to design a tattoo for him. The prompt was "imagine the kind of sword a demon sent to kill you would carry." I drew four different designs and he chose the parts he liked. Then I refined it. He did ask me to leave a couple parts of it blank so that his tattoo artist could fill them in with detail of his own if he wanted. So I lightly drew scratches on those parts of the sword, just as filler, easily erased.

I'm just surprised he didn't want bat wings on the hilt.
