Work is easy

Lack of work is hard.

Screw you, rain. Screw. You. I've never WANTED to sit on a tractor before in my life, but for this past week that's all I've wanted.

In other news, I really needed a break from Pony stuff. So I'm taking the opportunity today to draw all the Gears stuff I've been planning to do. Here's a snapshot of a tiny piece of that:

I kept getting 2/3rds of the way through a sketch and then... just fizzling out. Whatever I finished would be half-assed for the duration of the last hour spent on it. I think I need to spend less time nitpicking the tiny details. Which is why for stress-relief yesterday morning I sketched this:

STAB STAB STAB STAB gnaw gnaw

I was just going to color the blood, and only because the image was so messy that you couldn't tell it was blood. But that led to coloring the knife hilt, which led to coloring the Pouncer's eyes (because The Coalition wants players to "see the glint in the eye of the monsters"), and then it was only right to color JD's eye, and at that point I had blue on the page so why not balance it all out by coloring his armor lights.

It turned out alright, actually. And it let me get back to basics in terms of figuring out conservation of detail, which is something I've long failed at.

Time to eat breakfast!
